Join us for a warming winter concert this December! "Ode to the Moon, Cantigas Women's Choir's, 2025 winter concert, is inspired by lyrics from Rachmaninoff’s “Now the Waves are Drowsing” from Six Choruses for Treble Voices, which is part of the concert program: "Silver moonbeams falling set the waves ablaze beneath, like a moonbeam driving darkness from the ocean, joy makes light of grief."
The moon symbolizes a diverse range of ideas, including femininity, intuition, mystery, and the cyclical nature of time and transformation due to its changing phases. These themes are explored in the programmed music with nods to sisterhood in "Will the Circle be Unbroken," transcendence in Harry Einhorn’s unique "Seven Line Supplication to Guru Rinpoche," persistence in “Sea Wash”, and more in music from Ukraine, Malaysia, the United States, Russia, Ireland, Greece, and China.
